On 15th August St Andrews Pipe Band is set to perform for the 80th Anniversary of VJ day which commemorates the end of the Second World War.
We have learned a new tune for this occasion: The Battle of Kohima
The Battle of Kohima was part of the Japanese offensive named: Operation U-Go, that aimed to capture Imphal and Kohima in India.
Indirectly, this Battle significantly contributed to the Allied victory in the Far East and eventually Japan's surrender and VJ Day.
Come and see us on 15th August in the evening.
Parade forms at 7:15pm in the car park of Abbey Hall.
Short march across the road to St Edward's Church for a
Service at the War Memorial.
The gentleman we believe to be the last VJ veteran in Hampshire will be at the service.
