As we approach the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day, St Andrews Pipe Band is set to perform at many events across Hampshire. We will certainly be playing this well known but very appropriate tune : "When the Battles O'er" composed by Pipe Major William Robb.

On 4th May 2025, St Andrews Pipe Band will perform with Wiltshire Caledonian Pipes & Drums at the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, Salisbury.

On 8th May 2025 St Andrews Pipe band, Hound Parish Council and local residents are coming together to commemorate VE Day in Netley, Southampton: Beacon Lighting and Tribute (9.30pm)

On 15th August St Andrews Pipe Band will join up with Hound Parish Council and the local community to mark this special event.

“Celebrating the end of the Second World War” invites everyone to join in remembrance.

We collectively honour those who fought for our freedom. VE Day and VJ Day not only mark the end of hostilities in Europe and the World but also serve as a reminder of the value of peace, with eight decades having passed since that pivotal day.

Date and Time

Save the date for 4th May 2025! The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, offering visitors a full day to engage in the celebrations and participate in various activities. We will be performing at 11.00 and 14:30.

Save the day for the 8th May 2025! Exactly 80 years on, a shared moment of celebration! VE Day 80 with Beacon Lighting and Tribute at 9.30pm in the Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, Southampton.

Save the day for the 15th August 2025! St Andrews Pipe Band will join up with Hound Parish and the local community to mark VJ Day the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan, the end to World War II on 15th August 1945.

VE Day is much more than a historical date; it is a symbol of resilience and hope.

Let's celebrate together!
